In a nutshell...

The three of us, Chris, Lacey, and Kayla, have decided to go on a road trip. Not just any road trip... We are going to go to all 48 states in the continental US, and we are going to do it in just two months. Starting in early July, and ending, early September. Armed with 3 cameras, a camcorder, a laptop, a netbook, and our cell phones, this trip will be very well documented as we go, and we will make every attempt to keep those of you interested very informed of what we run across, and what we are feeling as our day to day lives on the road develop and mature. Hopefully, you will enjoy reading about it as much as we enjoy experiencing it.

If you can spare anything to help insure our safety, well-being, and, well, the quality of food we will be eating, please help us out, we will be more then grateful, and will definitely be giving some sort of public credit where it is due. Thank you.

Some back story...

"Are we really doing this!?!?"

Those words seem to keep running through my mind ever since we first planned on doing this trip.

I mean, we have to be crazy, right?

We're leaving our jobs, our home, and our lives behind.

But see, that's the thing. Without these sacrifices, we all really feel like we would not really know who we are, or even, really, who we want to be.

The story begins on a dark, cold, windy road somewhere between Fresno and Jamestown, CA.

After recording with my band, we were driving back from Fresno, when Kayla brought up the subject. "We should go on a road trip." It was like in those scenes in a cartoon where the light bulb goes off when someone comes up with an amazing idea. We figured that if we were to go on a road trip it may cost us quite a bit of money, and it may not even be easy, but you know what? It doesn't matter. We finally came up with an idea that would be simply for us.

We've all been dealing with a lot over the past year. I know with that being said, it sounds like we're running from something, but really, we all view it more so as us trying to find something. Maybe even just finding us.

Once we got home, we immediately began doing research. We found a lot of amazing resources, and to be honest, assuming we can handle it, we decided that staying in hotels would most likely not be something we want to do. We will be looking for places to stay for free, whether it means camping, staying with friends, hell, maybe even couch surfing with random people we meet along the way. We found out that all together this trip will be about 15,000 miles, and cost us about $4500 for the bare necessities.

We decided to put up this website just last night, we figured a) it would give us a great opportunity to share our stories with you, and b) maybe there's a chance someone, anyone, would want to help in some sort of way. Maybe let us sleep on their floor/couch/spare bed, maybe take us out to dinner, show us around their town, donate us some money, sponsor us, whatever. Anything will help.

Here's a little information about all three of us, just to kinda give you an idea of who we are, and where we came from.

Kayla will be turning 20 this Friday, she has worked as a medical assistant for about 3 years up until recently, and is, well, kind of our comedic relief in our day-to-day lives. She is extremely artsy, and spends a lot of her free time painting, drawing, and as of late, writing poetry. Although I have known her for only about a year and four months now, and at first, we didn't really get along, I've come to absolutely love her like the little sister I never had. She has two older brothers and two younger brothers, but Lacey has known her since they were in diapers, and they absolutely are family, blood related or not.

Lacey just turned 21 February 1st, and is an only child. She is probably the most outspoken of the three of us, but if you ever meet her mother, you'd definitely understand where she gets it from. She currently is working at a restaurant in the area, and is extremely good at her job, but unfortunately, it seems to go unnoticed at times. She has a huge passion for music and interior design, and although she may not know how to play any instruments, and claims (although I beg to differ) that she can't sing, she can sure decorate a house like it's nobody's business. We met online in October '08, that night spoke on the phone for about 6 hours, met in person two days later, and have been officially exclusive since October 23rd, 2008. This girl, from the day I met her, has completely changed the way I view myself, others, and even life, and has made me a much stronger and better person because of it. I could not ask for a better partner in life.

I (Chris) am 25 (26 on 4/8), and am the oldest of three boys. I grew up in the San Diego, CA area for the first 16 years of my life before moving to Stockton, CA, and two years later, Turlock, CA. My biggest passions in life are photography and music. I am in a hardcore/metal band called GRACEKELLY from Fresno, CA, and have a company that I run through myspace called Christopher Lee Media. My company is essentially photography and graphic design. I have been doing graphic design in some fashion since I was in the 8th grade, and never really stopped. I think my greatest character trait is probably my ability to stand behind my friends and family with sincerity and compassion, but to do it in a way where I can keep everyone level-headed and to think logically.

So yeah, that's us for the most part, at least from my point of view.

Until next time.

-Chris

  1. This is really cool! I am going to make a small monetary contribution and help spread the word. Maybe I know someone willing to lend a couch or floor. =)
